Meet William Nyondo from GVH Mwamkumbwa in Chitipa District. His household struggled to meet basic needs and lived in a grass thatched house.
However, through the IOVCY Graduation Model Project, the family’s story has turned from survival to success. With the K200 000 consumption support and K80 000 farm inputs support, the household has transformed.
In the 2024/25 farming season the family cultivated maize, groundnuts, sunflower and soya beans. They harvested 55 bags (50 kg) of maize, 10 bags (50 kg) of groundnuts, 4 bags (50 kg) of sunflower, and 1 bag (50 kg) of soya beans.

Realizing the value of their produce, the Nyondos sold a portion of the harvest. They sold soya beans for K103, 000, groundnuts for K516, 000, sunflower for K216, 000, and 21 bags of maize for K960, 000, totaling K1, 795,000.
With this income, they invested in improving their living conditions. They bought iron sheets and roofed their house, they bought livestock now owning 3 goats and chickens. Most importantly, they ventured into small-scale retail business, starting a grocery shop at Nandanga Trading Centre, which now earns them a daily profit of K20, 000.

Today, the Nyondo family is a beacon of hope in GVH Mwamkumbwa. Through Lusubilo’s IOVCY Project, lives are not just being changed, they are being transformed.
Lusubilo is implementing the IOVCY Project with financial support from the Coppell Family and technical assistance from Catholic Relief Services.
