On 20th March 2026, Lemero Community-Based Organization (CBO) conducted a review meeting in GVH Mwanyesha, Karonga District. The meeting aimed to share progress on its activities, outline future plans, address challenges, and identify possible solutions. Lusubilo Community Care attended as one of the partner organizations supporting the CBO.

During the meeting, Lemero CBO presented detailed reports on activities implemented within the community, highlighting key achievements, ongoing challenges, and planned interventions. The session provided an opportunity for stakeholders to appreciate the progress made while contributing ideas to strengthen service delivery.

The CBO also reported that, through the grant received from Lusubilo Community Care, it has ventured into fish vending as a sustainable income-generating activity. The initiative is aimed at strengthening the organization’s financial capacity to support vulnerable individuals and households, while promoting self-reliance and long-term community empowerment.

Speaking during the meeting, Lusubilo’s Human Resource and Administration Manager, Mr. Norman Kumwenda, thanked Lemero CBO for inviting Lusubilo and other stakeholders. He addressed safeguarding issues, emphasizing Lusubilo Community Care’s zero-tolerance policy on safeguarding violations. He further highlighted the importance of the proper utilization of Likuni Phala provided to support Community-Based Child Care Centres (CBCCs), urging stakeholders to ensure that the nutritional support reaches the intended beneficiaries.

The Karonga District Social Welfare Officer, Mr. Katoto Kamwera, commended Lemero CBO for organizing the review meeting, noting that it demonstrates a strong commitment to transparency and accountability in community-led development. He also appreciated Lusubilo Community Care for its continued partnership and support towards improving the welfare of vulnerable groups in the district.

Lemero CBO Chairperson, Mr. Danwel Mwalughali, outlined the organization’s contributions, including the provision of safe water, implementation of feeding programmes, household support initiatives, renovation of Community-Based Child Care Centre (CBCC) facilities, and support to vulnerable households benefiting from social safety net programmes. He emphasized that these achievements have been made possible through strong collaboration with partners and active community participation.

The meeting brought together community members, government representatives, and partner organizations, creating a platform for inclusive dialogue and shared learning.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment among stakeholders to continue working collaboratively to enhance the well-being of children and families. Lemero CBO reaffirmed its dedication to promoting transparency, accountability, and sustainable community development.
