Lusubilo Community Care, through the Agriculture and Nutrition Integration (ANI) Project, conducted a three-day training on food preparation, processing and preservation for care groups and community structures in Traditional Authority Mwaulambya, Chitipa District.

The training aimed at improving nutrition practices and contributing to the reduction of malnutrition among under-five children, pregnant women and lactating mothers.

The activity is part of the project’s ongoing work to promote preventive and curative nutrition interventions at community level. By equipping local structures with practical skills, the project is preparing them to conduct cooking demonstrations and nutrition education sessions using locally available foods.

A total of 35 participants, including care group promoters, lead farmers and cluster leaders, took part in the training, which was held at Mwalama and Namatubi. Facilitators from the Ministry of Agriculture (AEDOs) led the sessions, with the first two days focusing on theory and the third day on practical.

During the practical sessions, participants prepared various nutritious meals such as soya porridge with eggs and vegetables, yellow maize porridge with groundnuts, millet porridge with fish, one-pot dishes, Mbalagha, Futali, Chikondamoyo, Vitumbuwa and Mango juice.

Lusubilo is implementing ANI project with financial support from the Mathile Family Foundation.
