Five Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) conducted a review meeting on 21 August 2026 at PGVH Mchekacheka, Karonga District, providing an opportunity to reflect on their progress, share experiences, discuss challenges and identify possible solutions from the implementation of community and household approach activities.
During the meeting, each CBO presented its plan, activities achieved, challenges encountered and proposed solutions. Lusubilo Community Care participated in the meeting to provide support and facilitate discussions on practical solutions to the challenges raised.
Among the key challenges highlighted was poor coordination among community structures, as well as the lack of clear mechanisms to sustain activities beyond project support.
With the IOVCY II Project expected to phase out shortly, Lusubilo’s OVC Officer Wisdom Kayange, encouraged the CBOs and community members to take greater ownership of the feeding programme and identify sustainable ways of supporting caregivers at Community-Based Childcare Centres (CBCCs).
PGVH Mchekacheka also urged the CBOs to take ownership of initiatives introduced by organisations in their communities. He encouraged them to make use of locally available resources and opportunities to sustain activities that benefit children and families, rather than depending entirely on external support.
He further emphasised the importance of using grants and other forms of support for their intended purposes and ensuring that the resources contribute to lasting community action.
The meeting enabled the CBOs to reflect on their progress and develop practical approaches for sustaining the gains made as the project approaches its close.
Supporting CBOs is one of the interventions under the Lusubilo IOVCY II Project, implemented with financial support from the Coppell Family and technical assistance from Catholic ReliefServices (CRS).
