Three Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) convened at Wovwe-Ulaha for a quarterly reflection meeting to review their progress, discuss challenges encountered during the April–June 2026 period, and develop plans and priorities for the next quarter.
The meeting brought together government and non-governmental extension workers, Lusubilo Community Care staff and a wide range of community stakeholders. Government extension workers in attendance included Agricultural Extension Development Officers (AEDOs), Health Surveillance Assistants (HSAs), Community Policing Wardens (CPWs) and Community Development Assistants (CDAs).
The meeting also provided an opportunity for community structures and representatives to share their experiences and perspectives. Among those in attendance were members of Area Development Committees (ADCs), Village Development Committees (VDCs), CBOs, lead farmers, household mentors, community agents, SMART Couple facilitators, faith leaders, traditional leaders and Community Animal Health Workers.
The participation of these stakeholders enabled the CBOs to reflect on the progress made during the quarter, identify challenges affecting implementation and explore opportunities for strengthening collaboration and community participation in development activities.
In his remarks, Principal Group Village Headman Kapiyira urged community members and local structures to continue supporting initiatives being implemented by Lusubilo Community Care. He emphasised the importance of community ownership and collective action in ensuring that development interventions achieve meaningful and sustainable improvements in the lives of vulnerable groups.
The Lusubilo District Project Officer for Karonga commended the CBOs for their efforts and appreciated the support the project continues to receive from local structures, including traditional leaders. He highlighted the important role that community structures and local leadership play in facilitating the implementation of project activities and ensuring that interventions respond to community needs.
The reflection meeting concluded with stakeholders identifying key areas for improvement and outlining priorities for the coming quarter. The engagement reaffirmed the importance of collaboration among community structures, government extension workers, local leadership and Lusubilo Community Care in promoting community-led development and improving the wellbeing of vulnerable households.
Through continued engagement and collective action, the CBOs and their partners remain committed to strengthening community initiatives and ensuring that development interventions have a lasting impact on the communities they serve.
