The family of Mr. Tanozga and Virginia Msiska from Junju area under Traditional Authority Mwalweni in Rumphi District, is a shining example of how the SMART Couple lessons have brought about a remarkable transformation in their marriage.
Before joining the SMART Couple sessions, the Msiska family was struggling. There was no peace in their home, not trust and no sense of partnership. The couple did not attend church, and they often lived like strangers under same roof.
“We were not happy in our marriage. We didn’t trust one another, and we couldn’t sit down together to make plans or talk about our future. We were just living like strangers,” shared Mr. Msiska.
However, things took a positive turn when they joined the SMART Couple sessions a program designed to strengthen marriages and build better communities. They were introduced to important topics that made changes in their homes.
“The lessons have changed our lives completely, now we go to church together, we pray together, and we plan our family budget as a team. Even household chores are now shared we help each other because we are partners.” said Mrs. Msiska
One key lesson that stood out for them was on trust and faithfulness. The couple learned how important it is to be honest and loyal to one another in order to build a strong foundation for their family.
“We also learned to put God first in everything we do. That is something we had forgotten in our marriage, but now we are back on track,” added Mr. Msiska.

The couple is grateful to Lusubilo Community Care for bringing such life-changing lessons to their community. They believe many more families will benefit if they also take part in the program.
“Many marriages will be restored through this program, People will start enjoying their marriages again and raise their children in peaceful homes,” said Virginia.
The SMART Couple project is part of Lusubilo’s broader gender project which is being implemented with financial support from Catholic relief services in karonga, Chitipa and Rumphi.
Through simple but powerful lessons, couples are learning to love, respect, and support each other, once again building stronger families and stronger communities.
